The Miami Heat in 2 years have gone from NBA Champions to the most baffling and disappointing team in the NBA. They had 2 stars and ended up trading one while the other one rested his injuries for the rest of the season. Now they have the #2 pick in the NBA Draft and more flexibility to rebuild this team than any other team in the league.
Talkhoops.net senior writer, Cory Elfrink explains what the options are and possible ways to get back to prominence.

Trade That Should Happen: Andrei Kirilenko

Coming off his MVP/Championship run at the highly competitive EuroBasket, Andrei Kirilenko reminded himself of the fun and success he has when playing the game his way.  AK47’s accomplishments further fueled his demand for a trade that is now reaching elephant-in-the-room proportions.  His Utah Jazz simply cannot afford a malcontent star lingering in the locker room as they make a run at their first championship.  He has gone as far as to say that he would rather play in Europe than in Utah, but he is still due over $63 million these next four years.  Jazz GM Kevin O’Connor has said that he fully expects Kirilenko to be present at the start of training camp on October 1st. Cory Elfrink has the trade that Utah should consider before welcoming AK back to Utah.

The Houston Rockets have been one of the most exciting teams of the NBA off-season as they have made a flurry of trades and signings.  They have stockpiled point guards onto their roster and many assume that their rookie general manager will dangle more trade bait.  Surely he understands that a championship team rarely goes more than three deep at any one position.
Cory Elfrink explores Houston's options for alleviating the logjam in the backcourt.

The Sacramento Kings have put themselves in a frustrating position. Long gone are the days of being title contenders and now they have to decide whether to rebuild this franchise or to try and keep the course with their two best players, Mike Bibby and Ron Artest. But can these two even co-exist? Do these two want to co-exist? Should one or both of these guys be traded away?
Cory Eflrink has the solution.

OK, Milwaukee GM Larry Harris.  You got yourself into this and you had to see it coming.  So what were you thinking?

The only sure thing about June’s NBA Draft besides Oden and Durant being the top two picks, is that Yi Jianlian would only play on the West Coast, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix or Boston.  So why then did he end up with Milwaukee with the sixth overall pick?

In this installment of the Weekly Trade That Should Happen, Cory Elfrink discusses all of the possible ways for Yi to rid himself of Milwaukee.  Full Story

We know by now that the Phoenix front office has apparently been handed a direct order from the ownership demanding that new GM Steve Kerr and company must slash payroll by as much as $8 million dollars their first year on the job.

Why?  At $76 million dollars Phoenix’s payroll is already above the luxury tax threshold for the upcoming season.  For the few teams who pay their players an exorbitant amount, they have to also pay a luxury tax.  For exceeding this tax amount, owners are punished by being forced to pay one dollar to the NBA for each dollar by which their payroll exceeds the tax level. Cory Elfrink examines how to fix this problem without giving up winning.
