Want to Write for Talkhoops.net?
We're always looking for talented and ambitious writers to contribute to Talkhoops.net. Here are the parameters for writing for our site:

1. We're looking for sharp knowledge about the NBA. There shouldn't be articles like the Lakers should get LeBron and Dwyane Wade to go with Kobe.

2. You need to be somewhat entertaining. Have fun with what you're writing and make it relevant to today's world.

3. Proofread what you submit. Spellcheck it and check the grammar. I want it as tight as possible.

4. This at the moment is not a paying job. In the future, it most likely could be, that's going to be quite a while. This is an opportunity to have your voice heard by thousands of readers and to express your feelings on basketball today.

5. When you submit something to me, it only goes to me. Once something is submitted to Talkhoops.net, you cannot have it posted on another website without our consent. We essentially own it.

If these sound like reasonable requests and you love to write about basketball, submit some writing to writeforus@talkhoops.net or zharper@talkhoops.net. Thanks for your continued support.

Every year dreams come true or end in devastating fashion in the month of March. Championship Week has always been an amazing preview of what was to come in the NCAA Tournament. Below is a prediction of every conference tournament championship or the winner of every conference championship game that has already happened.

American East
The American East Championship game is on Saturday on ESPN at Noon. UMBC (1) and Hartford (2) will play for the automatic bid. They split the season series with each team winning by one at home. UMBC’s Cavell Johnson and Brian Hodges averaged 33 points per game between them in the two meetings against Hartford. Look for both players to make big plays down the stretch to earn the bid.

Prediction: UMBC.

Atlantic 10
Bubble teams across the nation are hoping that Xavier can pull off a tournament championship to keep this a two bid conference at the most. Dayton has wins over Pitt and Louisville, but have not impressed anyone in conference play (8-8 record).

Bubble Teams: If either Temple (2) or UMass (3) could reach the tournament championship game it could be enough for either team to make the tourney. Dayton could use a win over Xavier to add to their tournament resume.

Prediction: Temple.

Atlantic Coast Conference
The ACC Tournament starts this Thursday. North Carolina sealed up another ACC Title with a win at Durham over the Blue Devils. Virginia Tech has surprised everyone earning a first round bye winning four of their last five regular season games.

Bubble Teams: Even though Virginia Tech is fourth in the ACC, it’s hard to imagine them in the tournament without a win in the ACCs. However, they’ll probably end up facing a hungry Miami team that could use a win in the semi-finals to strengthen their tournament resume. Maryland could also use wins over Boston College and Clemson to earn a trip to the tourney.

Prediction: North Carolina.

Atlantic Sun
Belmont defeated Jacksonville 79-61 last Saturday in the tournament championship game.

Big 12
A Kansas-Texas final would be a dream final for the Big-12 tournament, but with so many teams playing for a right to get into the tournament or playing for higher seedings, it’s going to be tough for either team to make the final.

Bubble Teams: Oklahoma (4), Baylor (5), and Texas A&M (6) all could use good showings in the tournament. Oklahoma has the best shot at making the tournament without a win here, but a win over Baylor would do wonders for their chances, and the same goes for Baylor (assuming they win their first round game over Colorado). The Aggies need to beat Kansas State in a potential second round game to have a shot at the tourney.

Prediction: Kansas.

Big East
Georgetown stayed atop the Big East from day one, but their ability to win big games away from home has been a question throughout conference play. The conference tournament starts Wednesday and there will be huge games from the opening tip-off through the championship game.

Bubble Teams: The two teams that are sitting closest to the edge of the bubble will play in the tournament’s first game. Syracuse plays Villanova, two teams that have been ranked this season that will not see the tournament without a good showing in the Big East Tournament. Pittsburgh, although probably in regardless, better not lose their first round game against Cincinnati.

Prediction: Louisville.

Big Sky
The Big Sky Championship takes place Wednesday night where Portland State (1) will take on Northern Arizona (2). Portland State defeated Northern Arizona both meetings during the regular season.

Prediction: Portland State.

Big South
Winthrop defeated UNC Ashville 66-48 in the conference championship last Saturday.

Big Ten
Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan State all have tournament bids, but will be playing for seeding. This could be one of the most interesting tournaments to watch this season because four teams all have a legitimate chance at taking it all.

Bubble Teams: Ohio State could potentially miss the tournament only one year after playing in the NCAA Championship game. They open up with a game against Michigan State and could potentially play Wisconsin in the semifinals. Two wins would do all but guarantee the Buckeyes a spot in the tournament.

Prediction: Michigan State

Big West

All I know about the Big West is that Frank Robinson is a beast. Check out this dunk in a game at Cal State Bakersfield. Three teams (Santa Barbara, Fullerton, and Northridge), all finished with 12-4 records and all three of them can win this tournament.

Prediction: Santa Barbara.

Colonial Athletic Association
George Mason defeated William and Mary 68-59 on Monday in the conference championship.

Conference USA
Both you and I would be shocked if Memphis didn’t win this tournament. Memphis owns Conference USA.

Bubble Teams: UAB and Houston both have 22 wins this season and both teams have a shot at the tournament. A win over Memphis would seal the deal for either of these teams.

Prediction: Memphis.

Horizon League
Butler defeated Cleveland State 70-55 in the conference championship game on Tuesday night.

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference

Sienna defeated Rider 74-53 in the conference championship on Monday night.

Mid American Conference
Kent State is the favorite and is another school bubble teams in the major conferences hope wins their conference tournament. Kent State has been ranked as high as 23rd in the nation and Western Michigan has been getting votes to be ranked the last two weeks of the regular season.

Bubble Teams: Western Michigan won 8 of their last 10 and got the attention of some of the voters in the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls, but they haven’t really beat anyone. But, I don’t see any way the MAC is a two bid conference unless a team other than Kent State wins the conference tournament.

Prediction: Kent State

Missouri Valley Conference
Drake defeated Illinois State 79-49 on Sunday in the tournament championship.

Mountain West Conference
The two top teams, BYU and UNLV played in two blow out games with each home team with each team winning by more than 25 points on their home court. BYU is the favorite, but UNLV will have home court advantage at the Thomas and Mack center.

Prediction: UNLV

Northeast
On Wednesday, Sacred Heart (3) will play Mount St. Mary’s in the Northeast Conference championship (ESPN 7pm). In their only meeting this season Mount St. Mary’s won at home 67-59.

Prediction: Sacred Heart

Ohio Valley
Austin Peay defeated Tennessee State 82-64 in the conference championship game on Saturday night.

Pac-10
UCLA wrapped up another regular season Pac-10 championship when Stanford came to town and was robbed by the referees. Stanford then was swept in Los Angeles when they lost at USC proving that there are no easy road games in the Pac-10 (unless you’re playing at Oregon State).

Bubble Teams: Arizona is going to need a big win against Stanford in the second round (assuming that they beat Oregon State). Arizona State and Oregon need to win their opening games to help their chances. The Sun Devils open up against USC, who is playing as well as they have all season and Oregon opens up against a very good Washington State team.

Prediction: UCLA.

Patriot League
On Friday, American will play Colgate for the conference championship. American won both meetings by eight points.

Prediction: American

Southeastern Conference
The possibility of a Tennessee-Vanderbilt re-match in the semifinals is what’s going to make this tournament’s early rounds worth watching. The semifinals and the championship game should be three very good basketball games.

Bubble Teams: Arkansas and Florida are going to need to play themselves into the tournament. Arkansas opens up against Vanderbilt, which would be a huge win to help their tourney chances. Florida opens up against Alabama, and would probably have to beat Mississippi State in the second round to get into the NCAAs. Mississippi State may want to make sure they beat either Florida or Alabama to secure their spot.

Prediction: Vanderbilt.

Southern
Davidson defeated Elon 65-49 in the conference championship game on Monday night.

Summit
Oral Roberts defeated IUPUI 71-64 in the conference championship game on Tuesday night.

Sun Belt
Western Kentucky defeated Middle Tennessee 67-57 in the conference championship game on Tuesday night.

West Coast Conference
San Diego defeated Gonzaga 69-62 in the conference championship game on Monday night. San Diego stole an at large bid by beating Gonzaga in the conference championship game.

Western Atlantic Conference
Boise State, Utah State, Nevada and New Mexico state all finished 12-4 in the conference. This is a one bid conference and any one of those four teams could be going to the NCAAs after this tournament.

Prediction: Nevada.

Enjoy Championship Week. Were only days away from Selection Sunday and the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year.
